Nutecracker

A magical story, a touching recounting of first love...

A magical story. A touching recounting of first love. A Christmas fantasy filled with the dramatic struggle of Darkness and Light...

The Nutcracker has been part of Christmas magic for over a century. Those who don’t remember Hoffmann’s tale can still recollect the music of the ballet.

In his final ballet, Pyotr Tchaikovsky had reinterpreted the classical dance tradition and let the magical rhythm of the story dictate its musical images. The waltz of the flowers, the dance of the Sugar Plum Fairy, the march of the Nutcracker, the Arabian dance performed by Coffee all contribute to making The Nutcracker the most recognizable ballet in the world!

The ballet has seen a number of interpretations since its premiere more than 120 years ago. Tchaikovsky’s score, along with the fascinating story of a young soul growing up, first love and a wonderful transformation on the verge of dream and reality, continues to inspire directors by offering boundless scope for imagination.

The Nutcracker staged by the celebrated dancer and choreographer Alexander Manoshkin is the perfect example of a brilliant choreographic reinvention of the classics, based on reverent attitude to traditions. No matter how old or who you are, if you believe in miracles and worship beauty, the musical genius of Tchaikovsky and Russian Ballet dancers offer you the perfect Christmas gift!
