Swan Lake

Most famous ballet in the world...

140 years ago, Swan Lake premiered in front of an unenthusiastic audience. Now it has become the most famous ballet in the world and one of the main brands of Russian culture. In our days, Tchaikovsky would have received for his masterpiece 1.2 billion dollars.

By filling ballet with new meaning and content, Tchaikovsky had reinvented it as a form of art. His music became the cornerstone of dramatic dancing and rose to the levels previously associated only with the opera.

The magic and mystical plot of the ballet is based on a Germanic folklore story. United by their fatal passion, the two lovers, Prince Siegfried and Odette, whom the evil fate has transformed into a beautiful swan, are drawn into the depths of the Swan Lake. Under the direction of the celebrity choreographer Alexander Manoshkin, Saint-Petersburg-based Russian Ballet recreates the classic dance pattern in the authentic settings, reminiscent of the ballet era of the nineteenth century.

Anna Voytina, the pride and the prima of the theatre, interprets the key role in a lyrical and sensual way. You are bound to fall for her graceful and technically flawless execution of the complex 32 fouettés.

Staged by Russian Ballet, Swan Lake is a truly aesthetic multi-layered drama, solemn and ornate, the epitome of the high art of dance. The story is both intriguing and fascinating. Even the evil characters are charming in their way! And there is really no way of telling what depths of your soul it may touch...
